NAS Oceana is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The base is in the metropolitan area known as Hampton Roads, and it's about 200 miles south of Washington, DC.

Naval Air Station Oceana is the Navy’s East Coast Master Jet Base. It's home to F/A-18 Super Hornets, and it includes the Dam Neck Annex and Naval Auxiliary Landing Field Fentress. There's a presence of Army, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard in this area, so it's a true joint forces atmosphere. The primary mission of NAS Oceana is as a Shore-Based Readiness Integrator. NAS Oceana has approximately 10,500 active Navy personnel, about 10,000 family members, and 4,500 civilian personnel. It's the second largest employer in Virginia Beach, after Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.
