Welcome to SCSC Wallops Island

Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC), known as "The Battle Group in the Sand," is co-located with NASA at the Wallops Flight Facility. The facility's advanced equipment can recreate the combat systems of operational Cruisers, Destroyers, Amphibious, and Carriers. This allows it to train personnel, maintain research, and execute test exercises in a maritime environment.

Wallops Island is a six-square-mile island off the east coast of Virginia, and it's part of the barrier islands that stretch along the eastern seaboard of the U.S. Just south of Chincoteague Island, Wallops Island is located in Accomack County, VA. About 55 miles northeast along the coast is Ocean City, MD. The beach is a bustling tourist destination that serves as a fun weekend getaway.
