This is the old Poindexter house. The Poindexter’s were the owners of a thriving Coca-Cola beverage distributorship. Completed ca. 1913, Poindexter Place displays a unique and beautiful blend of Victorian and Craftsman style and is listed as being of contributing significance to the Historic District.

Well maintained, partially furnished with high quality pieces, carefully restored and remodeled: boasting a gourmet kitchen with a new refrigerator that is open into a generously sized, family-dining area.

The rooms are separated by a large island with mahogany cabinets and a culinary blend of stainless-steel appliances: Gas stove, convection oven & hood, refrigerator and Bosch dishwasher and built-in microwave. A handsome, full double-sink with a 9", curved bib ("farm sink") stands out prominently. Stove area is wrapped by a built-in cabinet island that straddles the wall columns into the dining area. Most notable is the India-imported, Madura Gold (golden brown) Granite counter tops (www.maduragold.com) that underscore the “Wow!” factor of the house.

A swinging doorway takes you to the formal dining room via a charming butler pantry with its original cabinets and a built-in hutch. The butler pantry includes a converted inner pantry serving as a washer-dryer closet and is hidden behind folding doors. 11 ceiling fans throughout, 10 Hunter Originals throughout downstairs.

Beautiful Quarter sewn Oak and Heart Pine floors throughout the house are prominently refinished. 6 pair French doors which gives the rooms a nice, spacious feeling. All of the doors are purposely left original to the house. Some furniture remains with the house at the owner’s discretion: a leather couch, a Henredon China cabinet and a farmhouse dining table.
Front door view: A large living room with a gas-log fireplace inset by an Italian slate hearth. Inside the front door looking to the right, a French doorway takes you inside a large, formal dining room that doubles nicely as a home office and also has another swinging door leading in the butler pantry. To the left as you stand inside the front door is the parlor, which has two pair of French doors, the second set of which opens into the main, or Master bedroom. Off the main and a second bedroom is the old sleeping porch that is nicely refinished and serves as a comfortable TV room.
The downstairs second and third bedrooms share a small shower/bathroom. A stairway leading to 2 upstairs bedrooms and storage comes off the middle of the hallway. The entrance way to a large attic is at the top of the stairs and has adequate space for storage. (Owner retains some space for packed personal items.) An additional large storage room is at the top of the stairs making for 2 storage areas and 2 bedrooms upstairs.
The smaller bedroom is perfect for twin-size bed and has a cedar closet that is large enough to be a good place to store your off-season clothing. This bedroom has its own AC/Heat window unit and can also serve as a study, nursery or sewing room. The upstairs, 5th bedroom (apx. 9’x14’) features a bath with a walk-in closet and a beautiful claw-foot bathtub (no shower). This bedroom has a separate heat/air window unit.

Additionally, the downstairs HVAC system has separate 2 units for separate front & back circulation areas that encourage lower energy use in winter when the doors can be shut from the front of the house when not being used. Finally, a roomy, two-car detached garage with electric overhead doors is but a few paces from the Porte’-cache at the back.
