We are renting our townhouse in RiverPark Community because we are PCSing OCONUS. This has been the perfect home for our family. My husband has done a tour at the Pentagon and is now at the National Defense University/ Eisenhower School. This is a great house for a couple or a small family. Pet friendly. Five minute walk to the Wharf/ Waterfront community with dozens of restaurants and shops, etc.
The home is four bedrooms and two bathrooms. We also use the basement as an additional bedroom when guests are over and has full laundry closet with washer and dryer. The third-floor master bedroom has an adjoining room that would be great for a nursery or office. There is no private yard, but it has a deck that I use to garden and spend time, with no maintenance and a community courtyard in the front of the home. There is also an area for dogs to use the bathroom near the front door. The kids are often playing in the evening and it is nice because you can hear them and keep an eye from the kitchen, but the community is small and completely gated/ locked. There is one-parking spot, and then my husband parks his car on the street and has no issues finding parking.
You could also have the master room be a kid’s bedroom with an adjoining play room, etc. Our family of three has just absolutely loved it and had plenty of space to stretch out. My son has a bedroom and a playroom. I use the guest room as an office and I use the second adjoining suite as a walk-in closet. The laundry room in the basement adjoins and has a door with a cement floor. We use this room for our cat’s litter box and is a great big area for storage.

We plan to put in stainless steel appliances in the next month or so.

The complex has a gym complex (older but works great) and when I need to do more in-depth training, I use the Ft. McNair gym, it is a five minute run. There is a pool with a lifeguard in our complex in the summer, a community garden and playground in the gated complex.
The community is constantly hosting events and holiday activities. There are socials and lots of opportunities to make lifelong friends in the city.

Our house is in a gated community with lots of kids who attend the local public elementary school Amidon-Bowen and Navy Yard is Van Ness. You can see a big glob of them walking every morning with their parents. Our son is in middle school and walks every morning and afternoon with his friends to Jefferson Middle School on the Wharf, a fantastic public school, about a ten-minute walk.

We are also a block away from a Safeway with a Saturday Farmers market, and Friday night food truck market. I take a little cart when I need to run errands. We are two blocks away from the public library and a five minute walk from Nats Stadium. JBAB Commissary is excellent and average 15-20 minute drive.

The house is a fifteen minute metro ride to the Pentagon, with it being a less than five minute walk to Waterfront Metro. Our home is a twenty-minute walk from Navy Yard walking gate, but an even faster one-stop metro ride. There is a circular bus which even the kids take in the afternoons that connects our street and drops off in front of the Navy Yard and Department of Transportation.

The house is a five minute walk from McNair, NDU, Eisenhower School.
The commute to Ft. Belvoir is about 30-45 minutes at peak traffic. I also drive to JBAB commissary which is less than 15 minutes away from our home. We go to Ft. Myer for medical and it is a 15-minute drive.
We love this home and would love for it to fit someone’s needs for the two years we are away!
