Three units of the Ohio Air National Guard, including the 178th Fighter Wing, are based at the Springfield Air National Guard Base located at the Springfield–Beckley Municipal Airport. The airport is a joint use civil-military airport located five miles south of the central business district of Springfield, OH. The mission of the 178 FW is to train future active duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve Command and Air National Guard fighter pilots in the F-16 Fighting Falcon.
