We all know what the ‘waiting game’ is. It’s when you know that you are about to make another  move with the military but you are still waiting on physical orders. This time of waiting is stressful and calls for a great deal of patience but it is possible to have fun and make the most of it!

Here are 3 ways to reduce your stress and have fun while waiting for your military orders.

Engage in a little retail therapy! Contrary to how it sounds, this activity does not have to be expensive. You can window shop or bargain shop but be sure to visit all your favorite stores. Not only does this get you out of the house but it will also help you take your mind off your upcoming move for a few hours.

Plan time with a friend! Take a friend on your retail therapy trip, grab a cup of coffee or go see some local sights. This is a good time to make another memory with them and prepare yourselves to stay in touch before you go. Not to mention, getting out and talking with a friend will allow you to focus on them for a bit rather than focus on the stress you’re feeling at home.

Take time for yourself! Because the process of moving is stressful and tends to revolve around the military, taking time to pamper yourself can be just what you need. If you can, go get a massage or pedicure! Go see an afternoon movie or take yourself out to lunch! Each of these activities are ways you can make yourself feel special and help you relax during this stressful time.

If you are playing the waiting game, try to make the most of your time and relax a little with these 3 tips. And remember, you’re not alone. We have all been there at one point or another!
