    Birmingham Air National Guard base is located at the Birmingham-Shuttleworth International Airport, a joint civil-military facility located five miles northeast of downtown Birmingham, AL. The 117th ARW flies the Boeing KC-135R Stratotanker. Also, co-located at the base are facilities and units of the Alabama Army National Guard.
