The John C. Stennis Space Center is located adjacent to the Mississippi-Louisiana state line in South Mississippi, approximately 48 miles west of Biloxi and 45 miles east of New Orleans. To the north of the center, nearby cities include Santa Rosa and Picayune, MS. To the west are the nearby cities of Diamondhead and Bay St. Louis, and to the south of the center are Napoleon and Pearlington, MS. Across the Mississippi-Alabama state line and the Pearl River, lies nearby Slidell, LA at about 20 miles distance.
