Robins Air Force Base, adjacent to the town of Warner Robins in middle Georgia, is named after Brigadier General Augustine Warner Robins, who was considered one of the best logistics officers of the former U.S. Army Air Corps. Robins AFB is home to one of the three largest air logistics complexes in Air Force Materiel Command and employs 24,000 workers—including civilians, active duty and reserve military members, non-appropriated fund employees and contractors.

“Robins Air Force Base is home to 54 mission partners, covering five major commands and three wings, totaling 22,000 Total Force Airmen all working together to support America’s defense. Robins Air Force base covers 6,935 acres and is Georgia’s largest single-site industrial complex. Major units include Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command, the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex, 116th Air Control Wing, 461st Air Control Wing, 78th Air Base Wing, 5th Combat Communications Group and the 638th Supply Chain Management Group. There are also a number of Defense Logistics Agency and AF Life Cycle Management Center activities here, as well as a number of smaller units and organizations which are important to the base, Air Force and Department of Defense.”

Robins Air Force Base is located in Warner Robins, GA, about about ten miles south of the Georgia Regional Airport in Macon. Cities near the base and Warner Robins area include Bonaire, Centerville, Kathleen, Byron, and Hawkinsville, GA. Located in the middle of Georgia, two hours east of Atlanta and three hours west of the Atlantic, Robins AFB offers residents a calm place to live. The winters can be cold but short, while summers are hot and humid. Much of the year can be spent in outdoor activities!

Getting around the Robins AFB area is easy with reasonable commuting time. However, there’s no public transport other than a small bus system for public transportation.
There are five base gates. The main two are the Watson and Russell Parkway. The Watson gate is home to the visitor center and the Russell Parkway gate is located next to the Museum of Aviation (you don’t need base access to the museum). It provides quick access to the commissary, library, bowling alley, golf course, and recreational activities as they’re located right inside the gate. Green Street will probably be the most convenient option for your work commute.
