Base Location and Information
MacDill AFB is located within the city limits of Tampa, Florida, eight miles south of the central business district, at the tip of the Interbay Peninsula. The base has city district status because it is located within the city limits of Tampa. If you head east from Tampa, you will reach Brandon and Valrico, FL within 20 miles. Riverview and Lithia, FL are also within driving distance of the base.

At MacDill, you’ll get used to hearing the term “joint,” with two military combatant commands located here: CENTCOM and SOCOM.
