Coast Guard Station Fire Island in New York is part of Sector Long Island Sound and part of the US Coast Guard's 1st District. Coast Guard operations for Long Island Sound, including the south shore of Long Island and along coastal Connecticut are coordinated from a single command center located at Sector Long Island Sound, on the eastern side of New Haven Harbor. Station Jones Beach, which conducts primarily Search and Rescue missions is just 15 miles east of Station Fire Island.

Hancock Field Air National Guard Base is the home station of the New York Air National Guard 174th Fighter Wing with the 274th Air Support Operations Squadron as an additional tenant command. Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station is a joint-use facility located at Niagara Falls International Airport. It is home to the Air Force Reserve Command's 914th Airlift Wing (AW) under which the 328th Airlift Squadron operates Lockheed C-130 Hercules aircraft from the airfield. The New York Air National Guard's 107th Airlift Wing shares the 914th AW's C-130 aircraft.

Homes - Westhampton Air National Guard

Westhampton ANGB is home to the 106th Rescue Wing, a New York Air National Guard unit located at the Francis S. Gabreski Airport. Known as Long Island's "Hometown Heroes", the unit operates and maintains the only rescue aircraft in the Northeastern United States designed for aerial refueling. The mission of the wing is combat search and rescue. During peacetime, the unit also provides search and rescue services to the maritime community and NASA.
