We all know that making a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move can not only be tiring but also hectic and unorganized. Things get misplaced and it can make your stressful move all the more overwhelming. In order to keep your things safe, especially critical documents, we suggest you keep a PCS Binder.

Here are 3 things you should always keep organized in your PCS Binder.

  1. Copies of orders. Nothing is more devastating than arriving at your new duty-station without your orders ready to present.
  2. Housing goods and shipping documents. When the movers come to pack up your house, they will keep an inspection sheet noting any damage to your belongings as well as an itemized list of high-value items. This will become crucial if any of your belongings go missing or are delivered damaged and you need to seek reimbursement.
  3. Records. These include medical, dental, school, and veterinary records. When it comes to transferring over to a new doctor, school or vet, all your documents will be in the same place and you won’t have to go searching through all your belongings. This will lower your stress level and allow you to spend more effort getting settled into your new home.
