Naval Station Newport is home to over 25 naval and defense commands and activities, including the Navy's most prestigious educational institution, the Naval Education and Training Center's Naval War College. Newport is the Navy's premier site for training officers, officer candidates, senior enlisted personnel, and midshipman candidates and for conducting advanced undersea warfare and development systems. Aside from Naval Station Newport, the Coast Guard is the only other military branch with a presence here. Naval Station Newport is on Aquidneck Island, RI.
