Welcome to U.S. Southern Command!

The U.S. Southern Command is a joint command uniting 1,200 military members of the Marine Corps, Air Force, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, as well as numerous government agencies. The base goes by “SOUTHCOM” and is one of the ten Unified Combatant Commands in the U.S. Its purpose is to protect U.S. resources in Central and South America, Cuba, the Bahamas, and the territorial waters, by creating contingency plans, operations, and security for the region.

Most days out of the year fair-weather people thrive here. Temps range from 62 degrees to 90 degrees throughout the year and rarely drop into the 50s. The summers get very hot, humid, and wet, while the winters remain short, mild, and a little windy.
