Fort Bragg: A Brief Overview

Named after Confederate General Braxton Bragg, this fort stretches across 251 square miles of North Carolina. The borders of the facility stretch across Cumberland, Hoke, Harnett and Moore counties, making it one of the largest operational military complexes in the world. Comprised of nearly 57,000 military personnel, 11,000 civilian employees and 23,000 family members, there is always a surplus of activity.

In recent history, the soldiers who call Fort Bragg home actively participated in humanitarian relief efforts. They provided aid for victims of Hurricane Katrina and assisted families that were impacted by the devastating earthquakes in Haiti. Hearkening back to its roots, Fort Bragg continues to celebrate an august reputation as a flexible operation, meeting the needs of the U.S. military in any of its humanitarian pursuits, whether locally or abroad.
